A hook that can be opened while under strain by knocking away a lock-ing ring which holds it closed; used to pro-vide an instantaneous release.

Towing Slips (Pelican hooks ) can be used to grasp chain through a long link attached to the bitter end of a chain but they cannot grasp a chain in the middle like a chain stopper.
